You can always try eBay if you really really want 6581/8580 I’ve seen a bunch go for pretty decent prices recently. You might wanna crosscheck the date code thingie with known-to-be-odd ones though :wink:

I actually thought he might be able to figure that out himself  :wink:

I don’t think that there is a application where you can’t use a 6582 instead of a 8580, except you don’t like the sound of the 6582.

Also I guess that there aren’t many (non-midibox-)people aware of the fact that there are actually 6582 SIDs available, as they have never been nuilt into any Commodore AFAIK.

CGS 6582A and CSG 8580R5 have exactly the same silicon inside, according to the guy who put them under a microscope.
