I’m having some trouble loading patches. I’ve downloaded the sysex files. And I’m using snoize’s sysex
librarian for mac osx (http://www.snoize.com/SysExLibrarian/) to send the midi. I am able to load the various sid programs with it. But when I send the patch sysex nothing happens…
with TL’s patch manager (-> http://www.automatic-brain.de/midibox/) the upload is normaly not a big deal, since it waits for a response from the MBSID before sending the next patch. But on a Mac you have to adjust the delay between two SysEx messages (patches) manually. A good starting point is 500 mS. If you are able to run a MIDI monitor in parallel, check that each patch gets an acknowledge message (… 0F F7). If an acknowledge is missing, then the delay is too short.
my bankstick however is not working so well. I tried wiring up another bank stick, and it’s still not working. I have only one patch memory. I can save, and upon powering up the memory is still OK, the patch is there… I will have to inspect more closely why the bank stick is not being found.
alright, so it seems that with v1.7a it’s not possible to save the patch if no BankStick is connected (or in your case: regognized). I remember that this issue was reported long time ago.
Some hints for debugging: check the 1k resistor, and especially the isolated cable between J4:SC and Pin #28 (!!!) of the PIC (it was pin #22 in older MIOS versions). The SID will output a sweeped sound once it detects the BankStick. The first time it will propably format the Stick, this will take ca. 1 minute. During formatting, you will here some beeps
