Uhhh , find a better way to distribute your music, bud.

Crisp: I can upload the files to the midibox server, do I have your permission?

Best Regards, Thorsten.

I’m going to update info about new SwinSID X2 very soon. Currently I uploaded subpage with new demos recorded by Crisp and TK.

The new firmware haven’t change much since january, it has mostly SID and C64 compability fixes.

You can download it from

http://www.swinkels.tvtom.pl/swinsid/files/SwinSIDX2.hex

@TK

ofcource can you… no problem

and as I saw Swinkels updated some part of his site with some new Demos  ;D

If anyone has a favorite Sidtune which he wants to listen played by the SwinSID please tell…

I’d love to hear:

  1. mITCH & dANE - Melissa D

  2. Dwayne Bakewell (DJB) - Old Friends

;D

Hi nILS,

here ya go and get it  ;D

http://rapidshare.com/files/112571896/4nILS.zip.html

The Song Melissa_D is a Stereo left 6581 right SwinSID

The Old_Friends is only the SwinSID

But in this Song are either the Samples to silent or the Sid Voices to loud…

The Songs with Samples I tested matched perfectly so just listen…  8)

Thanks a lot, man!

Finally, my download page was updated with latest SwinSID firmware for MIDIBox and dual AVR schematics. There is source code too.

I’m working now on the new SwinSID 1024 card with 512KB RAM and 512KB ROM for storing drum samples and new cool sampled sounds.

Maybe some day it will work with midibox as a external sampler (when TK modify control firmware) but first, it is intended as a hardware MOD player for C64.

Hi Swinkels,

Congratulations and thanks for your work

Will you upload the new source code, too? On your page I only found the source for the old SwinSid SE. And do you consider using English for the source comments of the new version? My Polish is a bit rusty

BTW, maybe I posted to the wrong thread last week, so may I draw your attention to this post: http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,11258.msg89914.html#msg89914

Sweet - updates ;D

Quick preview of a first sketch of a possible mbSwinsid PCB:

We want a BulkOrder TDA1543

Then go organize one  :).

Best regards, ilmenator

Thanks for the PCB. I haven’t mentioned on my site that this schematic is for C64 version. It uses 74HCT138 for address decoding of each AVR from C64 bus. With MB we can remove this chip and connect CS signal directly to the MB core module as with MBSid - master CS goes to MBHP_SID:J2:SO and the second one to MBHP_CORE:J14.

Nils, right below the audio out there’s a 5x2 header labeled U$2.  Is that where the money goes in?

I would use a PCM1725 instead of TDA1543 - availablility and quality are significantly better

Best Regards, Thorsten.

Hahaha, yeah, that’s the donation deposit header ;D

Will look into that, thanks.

PCM1725: TI says Not Recomended for New Designs and suggests using the PCM1754 instead (which is only available in SSOP package :-/)

Farnell also doesn’t stock them anymore. findchips.com lists several sources for the US but with a quick search I found no supplier in Germany.

well at voti.nl they still sell the desired TDA1543 for 2,50 Euro … so where is the problem?

This DAC is also used in some external CD Player DAC Projects for it’s good Sound also look on Ebay the sell DAC-Kits with this Chip for xxxx Euro Prices very heavy…

So I bougth some pieces from voti with no problem at all, fast shipping too…

And also very easy to connect, with other DA you need extra clock and parts and so on…
