Hey all, just wanted to check before the thing runs out on ebay… will these buttons be suitable for the 9 buttons that are used to navigate the SID synth menu functions? they are SPST off (on) momentary. Id imagine they are the right ones but I figured I should ask first seeing as they are labelled as “normally open” ? i assume that means the circuit? as in there is no current flowing through until the button is pressed?
any help greatly appreciated 
They will work, but I’m sure you can find nicer (and cheaper) ones in your local electronics store.
the only electronics store I know of is Jaycar (OZ/NZ) and they absolutely RAPE you on price 
Are there any online suppliers that people have used? I would love to get buttons with a rubberised feel, but after a bit of searching i came up with nothing
Yep, those buttons are bottom of the barrel as far as i’m concerned.
I’m in AU too, and Jaycar are not t h a t bad… yep, a touch pricey, but easy & local.
I get most of my parts off ebay tho.. buttons are pretty easy to come by..
These are at jaycar too, but compare da price..
try the feel at jaycar, then buy online.. thats what I do anyway.

I will obviously need to make the actual button bit but im up for the challenge
cool. have you considered how you are going to mount them to your case?
My 2cents of advice would be to keep it simple for now.. just make it work in a cardboard box etc with simple (& cheap) buttons. Then after you have got it all working 100% and played with it for 100 hours, then you might better judge how you want to proceed with your ‘finished’ product… don’t get caught up with the smaller details but look at the big picture which is - make it work & make noises..
