I can’t find the pinout for the rotary encoder i got from avishowtech…
i checked bourns website… but which pin is which?
from the ‘Buy’ page 
i know, i saw it
I know now the precise measurements of the unit.. and yet, the pinout is not explained
A B C are the names of the pins..
but i need to know which is the ground pin…
that’s all
is the ground pin the middle pin? one of the side pins?
Ahh so you want to know the meanings of the pin names… I posted that so you could see which pin was named how.
If you’d searched the wiki for ‘encoder pinout’ you’d know this, cause it’s the first and only hit!

Note: the rightmost picture is “top down†(as seen from the top of the encoder looking down to the shaft)
pin “A†goes to D1
pin “C†goes to Vs
pin “B†goes to D0
(This means that, encoder C pin is “commonâ€. Encoder B pin goes to lower numbered DIN pin (of two pins assigned to that encoder) and encoder A pin to higher numbered DIN pin.)
I search the forums and wiki for things and never find them, i guess i’m using the wrong search arguments…
Yeh that happens… What did you search for? It seems pretty hard to miss, and it’d help with the search tutorial if I could find out what the stumbling blocks are.

in this specific instance, i searched only the forums.
In other isntances i have serached the wiki and come up blank, only to find after asking that there is something under a name i didn’t think of 
Right now, i have found the SRIO test, at last, something to check why my DIN module is not changing my sid parameters.. however, i didnt’ find it in the wiki, which reccomends i use some MIDIO128 program, when i went to download it, i saw there was a program specifically for the DIN module..
i don’t know whch is the better solution.. all I know is that my DIN module and buttons don’t enter the menu, and that leaves me parameterless…
This isn’t as hard as building an analog synth from scratch, but this is faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar from a beginner project..
ahahaha!! it’s still exciting when i get frustrated to play back my first mp3s of my first sid noises at least

There’s definitely a lack of troubleshooting info on the wiki, and it’s much harder to find on the forums amongst so many posts…

Ahaha.. well, hopefully someone who knows about these things can take a look and figure out why i’m not getting any sweet control surface action happening.
