Not playing all notes

Hi all

Nearly there with my first MB6582, all PICs and SIDs are there all seem fine, make noise etc. 

BUT I only seem to be getting a note if I press a key several times, i.e. if I play a note, it sounds, I then have to press it again 3 times before I can get another note, anyone got any ideas what could cause this?

Are you sure the controller is working correctly? Try plugging your MB6582 into your PC and try using a sequencer.

Could it be that the opto-isolator is shot or in the process of going shot?

Nope, controller is fine, works perfectly on all other equipment including a V1 SID.

Opto, all the data went in OK from MIOS studio, just swapped it with another one and the same thing.

Good ideas and thanks for the reply but still not playing on all notes.

I’m not that clued up on this Synth, but it sound like not all the voices are working.. is it always three presses between sounds?

beep, silence, silence, silence, beep, silence, silence, silence?

What type of patch is it?

  • polyphon patch in mono mode?

You can also try following:

  • switch to a lead patch

  • start the synth sound by pressing SID1+MENU.

  • check whether all voices will be played by changing Waveform for OSC1,2,3

beep, silence, silence, silence, beep, silence, silence, silence, beep

Just put some other SIDs in and same thing, tried the Waveform change, all OK.

Filtered Poly works fine but the notes also sound a bit off.

sounds like you activated the SuperPoly mode while only listening to one SID pair. The dynamic voice allocation would probably assign the notes you play to every SID (one after another) until the circle is completed. Go to the ENS menu (press first Menu button) and make sure that the SPV value is set to “off”.

Now can anyone tell me why on some patches I am unable to play a large range of notes?  Seems the top end is most reliable.
