MIDI controlled electromagnets

What electromagnets or other atenuators should I use for MIDI controlled beaters. Somebody have experience using MIDIO128 for controlling some percussions?

Search here and ucapps for edrum  It’s WAY easier than you think

Solenoids?

Edrums are not mechanical drums at all. As I say, I want to drive mechanical drums over the midio128, not to trigger midi over the pads. By the way, I made edrums but I didnt find documentations about testing and and troubleshooting. Edrums forum dont have so good community like this forum so I dont find it very usefull. I just power it on and couldnt get any signals after beating the piezo element, so I just leave it aside for some time…

I think the *new* boards from SmashTV already allow direct control of relais, so some controlling of electromagnets should be pretty easy. Check out the new boards, cause I don´t know for sure.

Greetz!

No you didn’t say that before, but you’ve made it clearer now. I would avoid hydraulics and stick with magnetics . Moebius has the right idea…

Edit: Fixed from where I spaced out, see below

Solenoids ARE magnetic  Just follow the link from moebius - this guy even wound his electric magnets himself. But ready-made parts are probably stronger and more reliable.
