MB6582 some poroblems on the CS

My MB6582 is finally finished. Unfortunately it has a strange problem with the Control Surface.

It’s probably easy to fix but I don’t know where to look for the problem.

When I pres the button to select a waveform of the sid (left to the edge of the CS, the four leds below the matrix) it behaves strange.

The first time I press the buttton sometimes more than one led starts to burn, so it looks more than one waveform is selected.

That can’t be right. Also I can never select the sine wave.

Any idea where to look? Which part of the pcb is responsible for those leds in particular?

Sounds like you have multiple problems.

#1. You think you can’t have multiple waveforms selected for SID oscillators. You can! This sounds better with 8580R5/6582 SIDs. MB-SID stops you mixing with noise waveform because this makes the SID oscillator stop working or something.

#2. You think there is a sine waveform. Perhaps you are confusing it with triangle.

#3. One or more waveform LEDs does not work (perhaps this is triangle?). First try testing if all the LEDs work. I uploaded mb6582_led_matrix_test2.zip in this post: http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,10390.msg78577.html#msg78577  I really should put it somewhere more useful, like in the wiki :slight_smile: Or, someone who actually used it should update the wiki for me.

BTW photos of your finished MB-6582 would be nice :slight_smile:

You’re right. I mean the triangle wave.

I can confirm the led does work. Sometimes it does burn when I select a preset.

I just can’t select it with the button.

What should be the waveform cycle when I press the button?

When it’s 100% working I’ll post some pictures. Actually it does look the same as your MK2. Some colors, same knobs, same display etc. Not very original, but it sure looks great !

You can see what it should be by looking at the “Wav” parameter in the Oscillator page.

It should cycle Off, Tri, Saw, T+S, Pul, P+T, P+S, PST, Noi.
