I just updated my midibox seq4 with a couple 40x2 character displays from EastRising. The company offers over a dozen different color combinations and the prices are cheap ~ $10 USD. I can confirm these work perfectly with the midibox platform.
The shipping took about 10 days to the US.

And they have some nice oleds too. I’m expecting, that they are working with midibox? http://www.buy-display.com/default/oled-display-module.html There is no breakout board. So a bit of soldering is necessary, but they are nice and cheap… Are there any problems with that?

I found the quality of these to be mediocre at best, not even close to a newhaven or Kyocera. I tossed mine, not worth the $8 I saved and the 4 week delivery. Backlite was crazy inconsistent over the length of the part (you can kind of see the same thing in duggles pic)
This is yellow-green on black ones. If you want better view angles - buy black on yellow (or other non-inverted).
Quality as Altitude said. Poor view angles and inconsistency of backlight for inverted LCD’s, but price and color options are better than at ebay.
