Improved GM5 BOARD 5x5 EXPANDED

Great work nILS, so… no need for the GM5 pcb any more ?

asafnetzer: Not for this 5x5 version no.

Good thing I run out of solder and didn’t solder those boards yet.

Does this work with Vista 64 :stuck_out_tongue: not much does  I need to get a dual boot with XP 32.

I have Vista x64 and I can confirm it works. This is great because I have M-Audio Midisport and they didn’t release x64 drivers despite their promise. Instead they released identical product and named it Midisport Anniversary Edition ??? which is class compliant like GM5. They suck.

… That’s why I have decided against a piggy-back version.

woohoo!

2 for me

* board size is roughly 23cm*5cm (8.8"x2.0" for the metric impaired)

isn’t the cenTIMeter one for the metric impaired?? *whack*

Damn it, ive paid for my GM5 boards, but they havent arrived, and already there is this… does any one want 5 GM5 single boards??

i’m concerned that fleamarket is the best place to offer it.

or ask ploytec for 14 days return policy  ;D

Will you be able to daisy chain them like you would be able to with say emagic’s AMT-8 or Unitor8?

If the question is “does that board come with an integrated USB hub or something similar that lets you hook up another gm5 board to it” the answer is no. If that’s not what you’re asking: I don’t get the question

Sorry, what I am getting at is if more than one of these is built and to be used, once you have one connected to your computer can an additional one be connected to the first via USB or would each unit require it’s own USB port?

Each would require its own

port.

Dont get nils started about USB ports!

Correct, each unit needs its own usb port on the computer.

Don’t get smithy started about anything

edit: By “USB port” I mean a USB socket ‘somewhere’ as in “the gm5x5x5 module does NOT come with a built-in USB-thru or USB-hub”

i am interested in 2

btw has anybody ever come up with an open source usb hub schematic/board?

You must add your name to the list on the wiki page as stated in the first post:

http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/gm5_expansion_5x5_board

Dont see your name on there!  ;)n

AFAIK not, but I don’t think that it’s worth to DIY when you can have a *very* small 4-port USB-Hub for as little as ~5€

Each would require its own

Sorry smithy, edited your post - no need to post the same youtube vid twice, and its rough on older PC’s and slow connections.
