here’s my situation:
-
i was able to upload mios
-
then my midibox stopped working
-
i didn’t know if my pic was bad or if i somehow fried my core, so i got a new core and put it together
-
i don’t remember which is the old pic and which is the new pic
-
with one of the pics i get no midiout
-
with the other pic i get this:
what is this? can someone please help me troubleshoot?

Does your 7805 get very hot? What power supply do you use (enough power? Voltage?) ?
Did you check the main voltage? +5 Volts (+/- 0,2 Volt max) / Ground?

I’m using a core and sid from smash tv with an original c64 psu.
i have 5v going to the core and 9v going to the sid. i tested IC1 on the core it has about 4.25V at:
mclr(1)-Vss(12)
Vdd(11)-Vss(12)
Vdd(32)-Vss(31)
IC2:8-IC2:5
i wanted to trouble shoot the midi in, so i hooked up a 220 resistor and diode to IC1:Vss(31)-IC1:RX(26), but it just stays lit continously???
any suggestions?

Ooooops… 4,25 Volt are to less. Did you connect the +5 Volt as shown on UCapps.de? http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp/mbhp_4xsid_c64_psu_optimized.pdf
Looks like you connected the 5 Volts to the In of the 7805?
Anyhow: Does your 7805 get very hot?
I *think* the PIC gets to less voltage and so goes into a boot loop - so it is sending MIDI data all the time.

pay_c is right. The brown-out feature of the PIC will reset the core, if the voltage is lower than 4.5V. So you end up in a reset loop…
