So I orded a nice new graphical LCD from this guy on eBay. Instead, I got a pair of 16x2 from DataVision.
Here’s the datasheet I found, it seems to match:

The question is, can these be used with MIOS? I actually want to build an LC clone
(Actually, much much more than a clone)
Help?
Sorry for being such a noob…
Got some more info:
This appears to be:
LCD Mode: Yellow-Green STN
Polarizer Mode: Transmissive
View Direction: Bottom View (6:00)
Backlight: LED
Backlight Color: Yellow-Green (LED)
It has 16 solder points (including the backlight, which is easliy identified) outlined as follows:
Pin 1: VSS Logic Ground (0v)
Pin 2: VDD Power Supply (5v)
Pin 3: VEE LCD Drive Voltage
Pin 4: RS Register Select (High=Data Low=Instruction)
Pin 5: R/W Signal Description (High = LCM to MPU, Low = MPU to LCM
Pin 6: E Signal Description (R/W = Low; Data read at falling edge of E, R/W=High; Data can be read when E is high
Pins 7-14: Data Bus, 4 or 8 bit parallel, software selectable
Pins 15, 16: LED Power Supply
Any help IS appreciated!
If you didn’t get what the guy said he was selling, then you should explore what action you could take…
(yes, there are a few dodgy people using ebay :'()
or see if you can sell them to someone else! (but don’t lie about the specs!!)
These displays are much too small for an LC clone…
have a look at the thread “get inspired” under midibox of the week, to see how axel used 2x40 LCD’s… It worked out quite well… or look at the photos of midibox LC clones in the midibox gallery!
good luck, from Steve
Yeah… I thought about sending them back, but it took 5 weeks just to recieve them, and I only spent $10 on the pair so I’ll just find some other use for them.
You’re right. There ARE a few ‘dodgy’ people on eBay.
Oh well.
