As it is an investment for life, you can also spend ca 10 bucks more and get one like this:
http://www.reichelt.de/?ACTION=3;ARTICLE=6844;PROVID=2402
very heavy quality and you can first insert the crimp plugs (it will lock the plug, you can put the tool down) and then insert the cable and press - with increased power as the handle is angled…

Grmbl, i forgot to look at reichelt. So i bought the same one on ebay for about twice that. Well at least it’s a pretty decent one.
Ironically, I bought the crimp tool on ebay yesterday even if I had ordered something else on Reichelt two days ago and wasn’t sure whether it was worth buying it on Reichelt as well.
It’s a shame I didn’t know before…
Is there some way to shift that website into English mode? My German isn’t good.
i’m getting frustrated every time i see reichelt.. grrr ![]()
is there a model name for this? Us people in the u.s. can’t get anything delivered from that store(well at least for me)
i bought a crimp tool, but the crimp dies are useless.
thanks.
i got my crimp tool from smashTV, and i’m happy with it.
(and it’s not expensive)
Hi,
I also bought the one from Reichelt. It is an excellent tool. I’ve got not enough money to buy cheap tools ![]()

Btw.: this was my best investment of the year (7 EUR)
It was never so easy to “crimp” IDS connectors as with this inexpensive tool!

I always take my pipe wrench (rohrzange), a small one with flat gripping surfaces (backen), not the heavy duty curvy one. It’s adjustable in grip width, so it’s actually pretty parallel when squeezing the IDC connector. Works surprisingly well..
Hi,
I usually use a rubber hammer to do the job, with so far, 100% success ratio :-). This is a very unconventional method, but I think these connectors are not so difficult to crimp… With my next Reichelt order, I will go for the other crimp tool as well, makes life easier.
Cheers
