is it possible to have more than 40 buttons in MIDIBOX64? I read on DIN module page that 4 ICs can give only 32 digital inputs and firmware of MIDIbox 64 gives maximum 40 inputs (with 5 ICs)…? We need something like a ‘special case’ midibox - 32 knobs and more than 32 buttons. Can somebody help?
there is a way to have more then 32 buttons - just connect buttons instead of pots to the AIN module - there is a description how it works in this Forum: Topic: “AIN: potmeter/button” Â from Captain Hastings.
remark:
some special functions (MB64: META Events, Shortcuts…) are only implemented to the “real” (DIN-Modul) buttons…

Aha, ok - thanks. I am not sure about that how many EXACTLY pots we need, but I’m sure we’ll use this modification. Can you tell me exactly what are these special functions? We want to build Midibox64 to control Native Instruments Traktor… any special things about buttons for traktor?
Another usefull MidiBox button feature is the “Toggle Mode”: when a button is configured for toggle mode and you press the button once there will be a “Note on (for example)” midi-message - and if you press the button the second time = there will be a “Note off” midi-message - so the button act like a “toggle switch”. It’s funnny somehow - but you can “emulate” the DIN “toggle mode button” by using a toggle switch in conjunction with the AIN modul - so (in my view) there is no problem in the end ;D
But is this modification for analog input module -> buttons still limiting MIDIbox64 to 40 buttons? Can I have 40 buttons via DIN and additional 10 through AIN?
In that case you have 36 free assignable buttons (+4 predefined buttons) provided by the DIN modules (hope my thoughts are correct - i only realised a MB64 with just 32 buttons…)
“The MIDIO128 interface enables you to drive up to 128 digital output pins and to react on up to 128 digital input pins via MIDI” (connection for a lot of buttons…;)) - perhaps it’s a solution for your needs to combine the MB64 with the MIDIIO128…
