Hi, everyone.
First of all, this is my first post.
I’ve being making music for some years now, but
never had any peripherals helping along. It’s
mouse music all the way…
Not bad, but I convinced my folks to lend me some
money so that I could make my own controller,
which, I think, has become a necessity (my live
set is ready now).
I use Ableton Live for composing, so my first
idea was to go for a Midibox LC project, but I’ve
being djing also (more often then “liveing”), so
a “traktor controller” Midibox would make my life
easy - I’m not considering burning 60GB worth of
mp3 on CDs!
Ok, so the dream project would be something like
Xone:3d (www.xone.com). 3000 dollars, ouch!
It has a built-in souncard, which I don’t need (I
own an Ozone controller), so what I’m looking for
is:
8 faders
soloing/muting for each
cue selector for each
assingnable knobs for eq and sends
pair of jogs
pair of pitch faders
x-fader
play/stop
scene selection buttons
tempo fader
volume fader
pan knobd for each channel
In attachment, a draft will make it easier to understand.
OBS 1: I guess the transport part should have
better cueing capabilities, so more buttons
should go below each jog; but you got the idea!
OBS 2: Is it too ambitious to wish for kill buttons
next to the four knobs above the jogs?
Is it viable?
Bare in mind, I know nothing of electronics and
have just started researching the midibox thing.
I am still a bit scared about the bunch of
information, but since I’m professionaly
motivated (and I think this would cost less than
3000 bucks), my hopes are high.
Last but not least, the obligatory stupid
question:
Inside the midibox wiki (wherever!), what’s the
most newbie-oriented link or tutorial or
document?? I found lots of stuff on assembling
the different modules, but how exactly they work,
and how many of each I’ll need, I just can’t
tell.
Well, thanx in advance, and sorry for the long
boring post.
