Which encoder to take?

Hello

Can somebody tell me, which encoder to take?

http://www.elma.de/files/products/rotary_components/pdfs/optical_incremental_encoder_ty_002.pdf (page 5) Ordering number under “electronic”. Would “1” be o.k. or has it to be filtered?

Are you sure you want to use optical encoders (as opposed to mechanical encoders)?

… I thought yes because they’re contact less (longer life).

What speaks against it? Are they causing trouble under MIOS?

I haven’t heard of them causing trouble. They should have a (much) longer life as you stated, and as far as I know they do not ‘bounce’ like the mechanical ones.. i.e., they don’t have any time in the cycle where the level jitters between on/off.

I asked because the cheapest ones I have seen are much more expensive than a mechanical, like 10 to 20 times as much..

Well thank you for your valuable information. I’ll check the prices and have to decide then, about the quality is worth the price for my application or not.

Did you check the pdf? Which one do you think would be best for the V-Pods inder MBox LC?
