Sure, you just only have to build a circuit which outputs a control voltage of 0-5V. See also http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_ext.html

r u sayin instead of pulling the +5v from the AINX module, to use a separate circuit that outputs +5v and connect that to the +5v leg of the touch strip to it… or can i can just ape the power supply section of the core module…

No, the AINX4 module itself should still be supplied by the core module. Only the analog inputs can be optionally connected to other voltage sources. If you’ve a source which outputs 0-5V, just connect the output pin to one of the analog inputs… don’t forget to join the grounds!
