Follow the progress of the BLM16x16 (+X ;-)) project

An idea to join multiple veroboards

All buttons mounted

After 2023 solder joints

A nice flat case for the BLM (+X)

Ikea Ribba 30x40 cm for 10 EUR

Guaranteed worldwide available

Interfacing a SRIO board sandwich-like

Why not adding faders at both sides

Lightfest and “button cap” test for the first quarter

Usage of 2-row SIL headers to ensure the correct distance between boards

Later we will use such 2-row SIL headers to mount the SRIO boards

…and to connect the matrix wires

Please note: soldering such filigree wires is time consuming and requires some dexterity.

It will work perfectly with double layer PCBs, but if you really consider to build the BLM on a prototype board like me, it’s probably easier to add sockets at the bottom of the PCB (thats my conclusion after all the work)

Picture of the SRIO boards (15 DOUT SRs, 5 DIN SRs)

SRIO boards mounted on the bottom

0.6 Ampere

My first pattern

Re: All buttons mounted

Bored again i see? :stuck_out_tongue:

I was staring at that pic for a long time,

thinking it was just one perfboard,

and was trying to figure out what these metal hole like things were sticking out of it,

until i realized it was a photo taken much higher than i thought, of multiple perfboards, and lots of buttons!

Re: All buttons mounted

curious of which project this could be part Â

Re: A nice flat case for the BLM (+X)

Haha! Yet another innovative way to use IKEA stuff

Re: After 2023 solder joints

WOW! :sorcerer:

Re: An idea to join multiple veroboards

very clever, the alignment still works? Or is some filing/shaving involved?

Re: A nice flat case for the BLM (+X)

“Guaranteed worldwide available” yeah right, please show me an ikea store here in mexico city TK

Re: An idea to join multiple veroboards

No filing required - I only had to reduce the size of the middle boards with a cutter so that the second button row is between two boards (was done in 1 minute).

Thats the reason for the small gap between second and third board row. But this gap doesn’t hurt, the distance between buttons stays identical.

Insanity…

I was thinking of a monome type thingy at first,

But now u haz added sliders so i was lik ,

wtf i dunno.

Re: Why not adding faders at both sides

It’s a big BLM for SEQ… though I have pondered more non-linear uses as well. :frantics:

Eagerly awaits schematic.

Re: Lightfest and “button cap” test for the first quarter

yeah

I’ll probably (re)build a gear like that one day.

I did the bonome with arduino framework, I’ll definitively use midibox framework for the new one!

Re: My first pattern

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

nice1

Re: “Multi Layer”

KAN HAZ CIRCUT DIAGRAM 4 DIS??

Re: My first pattern

respect

Re: “Multi Layer”

damn looks like the floor after i went to the barber

Re: “Multi Layer”

Dear Tk,

I would like to know what is the wire you use to make this one?

thank you

crazy stuff :turned:
