The price is good, so if you are after the best VCA’s money can buy and you are in the states have a look.

They are direct relations to the great dbx VCA’s which are no longer in production.

I can think of 3 good uses…SSL G4000 Mix buss clone, ultra high quality VCA’s for a synth and rechipping some low end compressors i.e. Alesis 3630.

I’ve got the schematics for the SSL mix buss compressor (I actually have the whole service manual). I’ve been thinking about making a clone for some time…I just have to finish my current MB first  :wink:

When I get around to doing it I’ll buy my IC’s from http://www.profusionplc.com/.

They have some really nice hard-to-find chips

Here´s the link to Gyraf´s DIY MixBus clone. It is said to come really close to the original soundwise and looks quite easy to build:

Gyraf has some other nice clones, too. The most famous is the Urei 1176 clone. If I had 48 hours a day, I would build both. But one day the time will come… :wink:

No kidding!  I’ve got 4-5 of Gyraf’s board sitting on the shelf, and no time in sight to even start on them!
