testins the sid w/o the amp stage?

just for testing purpose, what happen if connect directly the output pin of the SID (the one that goes to the transisor/caps/R and then to the out jumper) to an amplifier?

i have a presonus tube pre amplifier, which can accept mic/instrument level signal and has a very high gain.

from some previous post, i understood that the output circuirty is to amplify the signal at a line level… is it correct?

this would check if my  “no sound” problem is in the output  stage of the PCB or in the SID itself…

thanks

Hi,

This might clear thing up:

An Audio Out and In can be found on the module. The function of the small transistor behind the SID Output isn’t to amplify the signal, but to save the SID chip from any damage - so, never bypass this protection!

(From:http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp_sid.html)

SID output is not meant to be loaded.

Bye, Moebius

didnt’ remember this

thanks!

then maybe if my sids are faulty there is something wrong in the output stage…
