Any one knows where to get tactile switch rubber caps? (tactile switches are the ones fixed directly to the PCB, the low profile ones). Most Evolution and Edirol MIDI controllers have rubber caps for this type of buttons, and gives a ‘soft touch feel’ (I don’t know if this is English xD)
I your’e lucky you might run into some rubber buttons from some kind of electronics (like the ones on cellular phones). Then you might be able to take just the rubber pice, maybe remove any text on it with alcohol or something and then put it on top of the tact switches. I’m not saying that cellphone buttons are good on midiboxes, but i’ve seen other applications use these type of buttons too.
I have seen some caps at Conrad that fit the tactiles from reichelt. You’ll have to order the ‘extended’ ones tough, with a shaft of at least 5mm, as these fit over the shafts. I’m getting those for my box definitely. The measurements are about 10x5 mm, but they’re not soft rubber but more like plastic i presume.
what’s the general idea of those?, I’ve looked at 20 suppliers (at least) and still can not find what I’m looking for.. A lot of plastic caps, but not rubber ones.. still trying … :-/
