Suitable foot switches for Midibox

Im planning on making a foot controller with Mios, Locally i think the only foot switches i can get are DPDT ‘stompbox’ style like these   jaycar link as far as i can tell these will work with with Mios, but will that take up to DIN inputs? one for each pole? i want to use them as no latching, so what is the best way of hooking them up?

im looking at getting about 20 switches, so they will be $4.95 each, but if anyone knows any other cheaper suppliers, Australian or otherwise illd appreciate it.

The problem is they switch on - press again to switch off.

MIOS really needs momentary action switches.

It should be possible to customise software to emulate momentary switching, but would have limitations. (I thought about this a lot when coding my own foot controller application)

they might work well on a foot controller.

Do you think those switches would be suitable for stepping on? they do look good, as they would have a soft touch.

ive been reading the wiki on your pedal board box but it wont work for what i need. im making a pedal board to control my Zoom G9.2tt, unfortunately everything besides program changes, and 3 expression pedals, need to be changed via SysEx messages.

I had quick play with them, should be ok, there pretty big. My only concern is how long they would last. Check them out when your in store

;D Sadly the way I designed it makes sysex not easy to implement. one day in the not so distant future i’ll look at it some more. (I need to give it a rest for a while).

If your after an app to start off with try canrul - if he’s still around i’m sure he will share his code.

I assume you already googled ‘momentary footswitch’ and got lots of hits for commercial controllers and no parts, right? Well what do DIY dudes care about that the musician doesn’t? Specs! Try googling for http://www.google.com.au/search?safe=off&q=momentary+SPST+footswitch :wink:

i ve bought what you are looking for at small bear electronics same price, same quality, i ve modded an alesis floorboard and those where the same as those ones originally used in the alesis box..

..i do believe that when you get in the small bear electronics web site you ll grab the chance to acquire some of the fancy thingies he sells.

Thanks Cimo, i found ones that will work fine, and the cost isnt much more then if i was to buy the DPDT footswitches here.
