SmashTV Core STM32F4 + MIDI_I/O Module PCB

Hi all,

I want to build the STM32F4 module pcb, but I’m not sure what the parts list is for what goes on the PCB.  Is there a parts list anywhere for what goes on this PCB?  Is there a SmashTV kit available that has all of the parts that go on the PCB, or would I need to order those from another supplier?

Thanks,

John

Hola John,

as it is a very new core, the documentation is still in progress - but here :

http://ucapps.de/mbhp_core_stm32f4.html

you´ll find the partslist and the schematics (in the middle of the page) for the core. For the MIDI extension board, you can have a look at the MIDI section of the LPC17 module (also on ucapps)- it will be next to identical!

With this information it is possible to populate the PCB.

Regarding the parts kit - you´d have to ask Tim/SmashTv, but it sure is a lot of effort to obtain and package those parts - and they are easily available from electronics shops around the world (no exotic components) :-).

Many greets,

Peter

If you are still unsure, will do a photo tutorial of the STM32F4 PCB + MIDI I/O module in the next weeks - still waiting for the customs office to process SmashTVs parcel

Ok, cool, thanks Peter.  I just wasn’t sure if there was already a kit or a list.  Now I know the platform page is the authoritative source.  I’ll work from that, thanks for pointing me to it.

John

I created a quick&dirty documentation for the MBHP_MIDI_IO module today which also has a link to the Reichelt BOM (for Europeans who only order the PCBs): http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp_midi_io.html

Outside Europe it’s better to order the kits in SmashTV’s shop

Best Regards, Thorsten.

Hey Thorsten,

is it planned to release the board-layouts as GERBER files (or similar) for the MIDI I/O and the STM-Board?

Thanks!

Chris

Yes, this is planned - I’m waiting for SmashTV, but he is currently extremely busy.

Best Regards, Thorsten.

Thanks for the updated documentation, that helps.

Does anyone know what SD Card socket works with the board? I’ve looked on Mouser and they all seem to be SMT…

Recently, I used these

and they work fine (SMD/SMT, but easy to do it)!

By the way, TK. updated the documentation, great work!

Is there any layout data for the mounting holes on the CORE_STM32F4 or the MIDI_I/O boards?

I’m back to working on my MIDIbox CV2 case and the coordinates for the holes would be very helpful.

Maybe Not-Mike can give you the data.

Best Regards, Thorsten.

Ahoy!

Please keep in mind that edge dimensions can vary by a few tenths of a mm depending on what size edge router bit they load in the tool rack that day.

I also put the PNG files on the shop pages.

Thanks so much, Tim!Mike. Very much appreciated.

Tim!Mike, do you have a part number available for those front panel mounting brackets that can be soldered to the two boards above?

If somebody (Tim?Mike) has part numbers for the more esoteric connectors like the SD card slot and female pin headers, that too would be awesome!

Edit: perhaps I should just read the post above!

Like this?

http://www.rapidonline.com/electrical-power/antenna-terminal-pcb-mount-90-degree-scrtm4ra-43-0786

It is a Keystone 7700 (mouser #534-7700).

There are a few variants with different colored screws and metric/imperial thread pitch.

Best regards

Tim

Thanks!

This one for M3!

Also snap in terminals, might be easier to solder
