Small question for Thorsten about Encoders

I’ve been talking with Ian Hurlock about modifying Detented encoders to non detented ones.

By doing this, will I benefit from the quadruple resolution feature of the Midibox 16E (using the PIc16…)

Hi Nat,

I tried this encoder with the non-detented modifcation, but there pulses are not clean enough for the quadrupled resolution feature. I guess that only a change in the firmware could make these encoders usable, the result would be “only” the double resolution.

This change will also be required for MIOS.

Thanks, since I will be using the PIC16 to start (might install the PIC18 in the future) I’ll try to find Non detented encoders.
