First post… So I’t may bo a Newbie question. Sorry about that.
I’m planning on building a Midibox SID and I would like the “full” control surface. So it seems that the MB-6582 PCB is the easiest way to build the MBSID. SID chips are hard to come by, and I only have 2 SIDs. Can i use the MB-6582 with only 2 SIDs in a stereo setup? Or should i get the core module and some SID modules.
What modules do I need for the full control surface?

By the way, I tried to get a hold on the MB-6582 manual/documentation, but I didn’t succeed. Does anyone have a working link? Maybe i can find all the info in there… Thanks!
You can build the MB-6582 and only use two SIDs but then you’ll have lots of redundant stuff. Anyway, you might come by more SIDs eventually and then you can stuff them in. As for the control surface you can either use the separate MB-6582 control surface PCB or you can make your own. Have a look at that wiki page and it will hopefully become more clear.
Okay. I’ve looked through the Wiki. And it seems like I’ll be able to use two SID’s (as you said) and only one IC to control them, and then later on, as I salvage some old C64’s, I’ll be able to stuff the synth with more IC’s and more SID’s?
But it will fire up with only two SID’s and one IC? Right?
Yes, but to save yourself any later setup you could also install all 4 cores leaving out only the SIDs. For example, I have all 4 cores but only 4 SIDs. When I get more SIDs, I can just install them and start playing.
