SIDControl VST-plugin for MBSID V1 (not V2!) by S.M.

If you are familiar with reactor, I think you’ll have no problems with using Synthedit.

And if you like this style of connecting anything you should test a VST-Host called ‘AUDIOMULCH’ http://www.audiomulch.com.

-but SIDControl has a little bug in Audiomulch : You’ll find a Folder called ‘SidControl’ within a SCTR.dll - and not the SidControl.dll Plugin.

The SCTR.dll isn’t a working VST-plugin itself. But when you hold your mouse over the SidControl-folder the real SIDControl.dll will be

inserted automatically. (everytime your mouse moves over the SidControl-folder)

Oh, that very much looks cool, SM. I first got into modular-like computer software through Jeskola Buzz. Are you familiar with that program?

Hmm. I’m not making any promises, but when my MBSID is finished perhaps i’ll work on a Reaktor controller for it like yours, and maybe add some ideas of mine. I think it would be good for the scene to see more people taking it upon themselves to add to the available tools instead of just asking for them. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

For a Mac, maybe something similar (despite the GUI, it seems) can be done with

Max/MSP, http://www.cycling74.com/products/maxmsp.html, payware or

PureData, http://www.puredata.org/, freeware.

Both are cross-platform; PureData can create VST-Plugins by using pdVST, http://crca.ucsd.edu/~jsarlo/pdvst/, not sure about Max/MSP here.

thanks!

i’ll try out that puredata stuff. seems like it would be the best.

hi!

this sid control vst is extremely useful but…

it seems to me that it transmit only to channel1 even if you set a different channel. i can solve this problem via software with my creamware audio card, but maybe other cannot

it could be GREAT if the vst could accept incoming CC and update its setting after receivinv a CC: in this

way you can transfer the current patch data from the midibox sid to the VST and edit it on the screen!

anyway, thank you very much for this great device!!

does anyone here use Abelton Live?  The vst loads fine for me but it does not seem to send MIDI out?  This is related to Live I’m guessing because the VST works great for me in Audiomulch and many other people are having success with Cubase.

Hi there,

At this time i’m working on a new version of SID-Control.

Thanks for suggestions and bug-reports so far.

The new version will be available, soon and i will post it in here.

S.M.

hi there look at http://www.saschazone.de for the new SIDControl-VST plugin.

It’s a little bit smaller (957kb) and has a new display-section + external patch-call function.

Maybe I could kill some bugs…(I hope so)

hey do you guyz know if anyone made a sid pluggin for mac osx?

nope no plugin for the midibox sid on the mac as of yet.. but there are a couple sid emulator plugins for the mac..

sid emulator plugins for mac?

tell us more.

quadrasid

Can you create this as an AU for Logic ?  Thank you, this is a great thing.

Fantastic work SM, really something I could use. Can’t believe I didn’t discover this earlier, but then again, I only ever visit when I have a problem, so it’s my fault. Makes me feel I should contribute to this community more.

I’ve had some annoying issues in using the MbSID in my sequencer, I belive it sends an “all controllers off” at the end of a recording, which seems to mute the MbSID, so I have to change the patch back and forth for every few bars of recording. Now I can avoid this and even automate controls!

You’re my hero of the day!

hi,

I have just uploaded an additional version of SidControl-VST.

The new version should support the Multi-Sid-Versions (it sends its data on up to 4 MIDI channels simultaneously).

I do not know if it’s the best solution because I own a Single-Sid-Synth, only.

S.M.

i have a nice and usefull program:

energ xt (demo version dowloadable from the site http://www.xt-hq.com/ )

with this progam you can use vst instruments (and even sequencers, arpeggio generators etc etc…)

like modules in a modular synth… try to belive!

but when i load the sid vst control there is not the midi out to connect it to the output of energy xt…

it’s hard to explain… and i’m not so good in english…

i think that if you dowload the demo version of this great program and try to use this with vst sid control you’ll understand.

Hi,

but when i load the sid vst control there is not the midi out to connect it to the output of energy xt…

I have just tried out the energy-XT-Demo and I found out that the current versions of SidControl are NOT compatible with this Software. -sorry…

It is not because of the missing midi-out connectors because SidControl HAS NO CONNECTORS. Try the latest demo of ‘Audiomulch’ - a powerful Host for ‘chaining’ VST-Plugins http://audiomulch.com/download.htm , load the SidControl-VST and you’ll see what I mean. After setting up SidControls MIDI-port (only!) You can play the Plugin without any problems.

  • Be sure that Audiomulch is running - if not press ‘Play’

I think that energy-XT is not made for ‘non-soundprocessing-VST-Synths’ and it eats SidControl’s MIDI-data …
