I have a midi in problem on the Samich SID. I have finish soldering both PCB. I’ve tested the correct voltage and install the ICs in there.
When I do the Initial tesing and firmware upload. I got the midi out working, unfortuenatly, midi in is not working. I run MIOS Studio and rout the midi device. Open midi in window, switch on the sammichSID power and I got that single upload message in “midi in” window which means the MIDI OUT is working fine. However, I did not see MIOS boot screen. I see READY on sammichSID LCD screen. I try to open MIOS LCD message and try to send some text to the sammichSID LCD, but the Sammich LCD has no response. Just have the word “READY” on the screen. Does that mean the MIDI IN is not functional? What resistor or jumper are connect to the MIDI in? Anyone know what causing this problem? Did I solder wrong resistors? I have check every soldering point and they looks fine. Please help.
OK if you see “READY” this means MIOS is installed.
You should see “MIOS 1.9g” quickly before this.
MIDI In requires jumper in header JMI and the optocoupler 6N138 installed… it also uses the 1.2K and 5.6K resistors.
Compare with the photos in the guide.
Also check you have correct routing in MIOS Studio.
Try a loopback cable on your PC (PC Midi Out->PC MIDI In), and test that you receive identical messages in MIDI In window when you send MIDI… like when you use the keyboard in MIOS Studio.
If these aren’t the problem I will help you with MIDI troubleshooting;
