??? Internal squeezing and stuffing is quite a mad woman.

The PCB is so messy. The PCB is so messy. LOL

I guess mad woman means bitch??

ask him that we want to mess with the pcb and correct the errors. Also we want to swap the eprom and upload samples  (someone did that for the Jomox gear) and play back via basic 14 bit r2r dac. We also want voltage control : DD

Even with the midi mod it sends cv-gate out and has 8 ch of it, if possible to upload samples why not, but they wouldn’t be too editable i bet. Contacting this guy is hard, there is  a contact link on one of his pages that is all Japanese, not easy searching for it through Google translate. I used that contact page about a week ago with no reply but mysteroiusly on google translate his blog does show some updates, anyone speak/ write good japanese??

Look for SounDuke on chattage. BTW i tought of da 909 , maybe with some SOIC uC covert operation

CMu-800r schematics and manual via Kevin Lightner of Synthfool and synthdiy.com

I’m gettin excited about this project…

I listened to the demo on the Japanese guy’s site and really liked the drum sounds.  Very pleased to see that the schematics are posted here … but of course it doesn’t say what the op amps and transistors are.

So, if anybody happens to be gandering around inside your CMU-800, please try to make a note of those semiconductors.  I think CMU drums would be kind of exotic

Just had a chance to look at that pdf manual, too.  Don’t snicker too loudly when Roland proudly exclaims:

There is no need to say welcome to the future.  It is in your hands now.

At first I chuckled, then when looking through the manual, I realized that this may well be the first mass-marketed, personal computer-based sequencer capable of synchronizing with other sequencers and drum machines, and controlling external pro synths.  We’re talking 1982 here!  This is awesome!

I got one NIB about a year ago, w/ the software, just need an Apple IIe to copy it and I’ll hook yall

Thanks and good luck with your setup, but the software’s no use use to me without the IIe host card.

Updates on this project, get your altavista/google translate ready. video clips of the midified cmu playing x-mas music also, with much more schematics and stuff as well…ive c+p the info from his pdf’s to google translate and it worked.

duh link wouldve helped…

wow thankx those live acts r teh blast

This seems like a cool project.

I got a completee cmu-800r with extra card.

CV CV CV CV…

I dream of what the CV can do to the SH-101 or the drum output of this box running the oscillator in the Moog freqbox.

Okay whose going in first…

Hi

i ever did this mods and it s very cool and cheap midi to cv interface. the sound of the CMU 800 or very loud too.

But i have one problem. when i used the cmu800 directly with a midi keyboard i had some strange thing with the Gate. i couldn’t play to successif note because the second note doesn’ t sound. But when i used it with a software sequencer it was allright.

somebody had the same problem?

I will put some MP3 exeample because it s not easy to explain what’s happen

That last thing might be a start.

But it would be cool if it had some display to setup the cv’s etc.

This is a dead horse I MUST kick. I’m amazed there are even this many other people out there who are/were pursuing this project.

So how many of you have had luck building this with the files over at RJBlog? I feel like it’s impossible to get very far if you don’t speak Japanese. Google takes care of the site itself without me even asking it, but goddamn PCBE. How has anyone else printed this? I can’t read any of the shiz in that program to properly align it.

I’ve got so many midi files just waiting to pass through this thing. I’ll compensate thee with their recordings and endless love.

Thanks!
