a quick question:
when i play my sid, i can hear, very faintly, the note that was just played after it was released. it will change with whatever note i play.
is this normal?
i know the SID is supposed to be noisy, but i thought it was just supposed to be a low hum.
my sid is setup with the clock running from the core module.
No, this is absolutely normal. The SNR should be around 60-80 dB, so you still hear it. That´s the SID. The 8580s are a little better there (but still the same prob).
But normally this is no prob, because if it disturbs you: You won´t ever hear it in an arrangement (with at least two more tracks playing) and *if* you here it, you can use a noise limiter to get it away (works out very very well in most cases). You even could think about an external hardware-based noise limiter behind the SID.
