I was happily using my sammichSID the other day jamming out with a friend. Then, today I tried to power it up, and… nothing. I checked the power supply (12V 500ma regulated enercell from radio shack) and I only get 6VDC. I don’t get anything on AC. Does this sound correct or should it be reading 12V? thanks.

You should get exactly 12V out of a regulated DC powersupply. They often have little switches where you can “dial in” the voltage needed. It might be you accidently moved them to the 6V setting…
It doesn’t have any switches. I wonder if something failed in the unit. I guess I’ll take it back to Radio Shack.
Are you sure that power supply isn’t switchmode? I thought the enercell ones were switchmode, and would make a lot of noise on the audio.
It’s this one:

is there a possibility it won’t show 12V unless there is a load on it?
I thought the whole point with a regulated supply was to keep the voltage constant no matter what load is on it unless you overload it or something… I would take it back to the shack.
I’m using this one: http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a-store/item/PS-1251/12-VDC-500-MA-REGULATED-POWER-SUPPLY//1.html
12.16 out under no-load and 12.09 under load, can’t complain, cheap too!
Well, they swapped it for a new one. It measures a healthy 14V with the meter and now the Sammich powers up fine!
