Power supply for Core and MF

I am a bit confused about the ongoing discussion of power supply units for the Midibox.

Since I am not an electrical engineer, I am a bit lost when trying to compute what exactly is needed.

My plan is to build a standard Midi LC clone (including the Core, all proposed DOuts, and a MF module). I have already bought the wall adapter propsed by TK in the Reichelt part list for the core module (max. 500 mA)

I switched it to 12 V to be able to directly connect it to the MF module (in parallel to the Core module connection).

Will this set up cause any problems?

What happens, if I decide to build a LC XT clone? Will I need a new power supply? I don’t know how to calculate the expected current and what the consequences of this calculation may be.

A confused Newbie happy for any help,

Dominik

have a look at this

i think you need to have a seprate 7-10 volt supply for the core or the 7805 will get very hot.

OK. Of course, I have already read this.

I thought, the heating of the 7805 mainly depends on the current. Am I wrong?

in this post it is sugested that you put the input to the core through a 7809 before a 7805

But also im not sure of the curent drain of the mf module.  I think it is quite large.

it is 1A it says here http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp/mbhp_mf_interconnections.pdf
