Whoops! Thanks Justin. Uppercase/lowercase isnt an issue when building html on my machine, but it is an issue on the web server! (I had .jpg instead of .JPG) :)
The pictures are not that great anyway, they are very blurry due to my non-zooming digicam. But they do open correctly on the site now.

I think it might be cool to have a mention on the DIN page and any other suitable ones that when ordering from mouser, with orders of 36 resistors of the same value, it’s much less expensive to just order 200 of them. Shipping might increase slightly, I don’t know, but it might be a nice note to include. It’s not like it’s a substantial amount of money involved, but hey, costs have a way of adding up with electronics projects

I’m assuming that it’s the BC547 transistor that’s backordered, if so get your order number in hand, call or email Mouser sales, and ask them to change the backordered part from 625-BC547A to 512-BC547A. No reason to wait if they are available from a different manufacturer!

It must be pretty time-consuming sorting and packaging all the parts, making the PCBs and then taking it all to the post to send it off…!

Of course, I still haven’t figured out a case yet. I don’t like buying project boxes, I prefer to find weird stuff at flea markets and thrift stores to cannibalize, and I’ve had no luck with this one yet 
Hey, I am new here, so forgive my stupidity…
Which kits do I need to build a Midibox 16 or 64? and asside from case, pots, sliders, buttons, LCD and LEDS, what else do I need. Like I said, new here ??? and not too bright…

I just visited your site and am impressed.
I suppose the question has been put, or you have considered this, but certain parts for MBHP are extremely difficult to get in smaller quantities (say<250 pieces) or otherwise difficult to source.
The overheads involved in making various mail orders
to lots of different suppliers make “one stop shopping” extremely attractive!

It would be great if there was a Midibox stockist who had all the hard to get stuff in one place!
It may have another benefit, and that is perhaps it would encourage standard components that may make community firmware support more effective.
I accept that overseas mail orders are inevitable but it would be really helpful if I don’t have to make several or more orders just to complete a single project!

Yes. You must keep in mind though that my sale of midibox related things is not profit motivated, and as a result it is hard to justify tying up large amounts of cash in parts so they can sit and wait to sell.
My attitude towards selecting parts to stock is “Can I beat or match the price the builder can buy it directly for?”. On the parts in this list I can’t, unless I’m willing to tie up thousands of dollars in bulk buys.

but if you do make a good profit then everyone is happy (as I see it) and you can continue to build even greater capability.
I really like the concept and implementation of your site.
I speak for myself (and perhaps others) when I say that I only purchase from overseas mailorder as a last resort. This is because of postage and handling expense, possible delay and sometimes minimum order quantity as well as customs duty.
I’m planning a MB LC/MC (I built a midibox64 in 2002) and I will probably have to make about 4 mailorders to different sellers around the world. This will be expensive.

I guess this depends on the uncertainty of sales, cost of credit, operating overheads etc. I just point out that the real cost to the builder of sourcing parts for themselves is deceptively high.
I suppose you have researched these issues and made a judgement so all I can say is that based on my perspective, as a builder, is that I would be willing to pay a premium to be able to get all my midibox needs from one supplier. How many others would is the $64 question.

I’ll run some numbers and check my finances. (we are talking about $1000USD+ to properly stock these parts!)
Also I absolutely will not consider it without Thorsten’s blessing.
