OSC Tool crash

Hi all

I just install an ethernet card to J16 (core stm32)

Hardware seem to work, got IP etc with my router, when typing “network”, also have ping reply if I call from my macbook terminal.

But as soon as I start to type a OSC string in the OSC toll app, MIOS studio just crash !?!

I was able some times to make change at target app (DAW pan/volume in my case) before the crash, but not the value I wish I send

I don’t find so many tread relating to OSC and the “tool” app

Any idea as start? I’m completely noob with OSC

Hi,

how did you configure the tool? (Remote Host, Remote Port and Local Port number?)

After a crash, the Konsole might give you (and me useful information about the reason, just enter “konsole” in spotlight to launch the tool and check the last log messages.

The log shows that you are using MIOS Studio 2.4.3, which has been released anno 2013.
Meanwhile we’ve 2.4.6

So, it could be that the crash happens due to a bug which has already been solved in newer MIOS Studio versions?

It’s exactly the same app when I unzip !!!

Finder info say created the 21/10/13, v2.4.3

BUT main app window say MIOS studio 2.4.6

Since I’m unable to reproduce the issue at my side, I can’t doublecheck if the same version number is print.

The log also doesn’t give me hints about the location - therefore I don’t know how to continue to support you on this.

Did you already try different IPs and port numbers to get a better understanding under which circumstances the crash happens?

You are using the true 2.4.6, the version information passed to MacOS seems to be wrong (which is a programming error somewhere in MIOS Studio)

But this is unrelated to your issue…

Hi

Well I think have spotted something about the crash.

Test condition:

No MBHP conected to the computer, and no OSC host app open, just MIOS studio and OSCtool (not connected), meaning only the osc “validation” dialogue top right is doing something, scanning the strings I write

If I write typical OSC message used by the host DAW I want to sync ex: /TrackList/0/Volume f0.707 to send fader 1 value 0dB it will crash erratic at any time during the writing. But for sure in the next 10 sec.

If I write typical OSC message that is in the “supported OSC packet format” explaned here–> http://ucapps.de/midibox_osc.html MIOS studio don’t crash

So my conclusion is OSCtool don’t like to send non supported MIOS32 OSC format

Sound like a standby topic for my motorfader system

Alright, this was finally the hint which helped me to reproduce the issue.

It’s related to the fact that with newer MacOS versions MIOS Studio is running in 64bit mode, with older MacOS versions it was running fine in 32bit mode.

The OSC parser is inherited from MIOS32 (and not MIOS64…

It needs some time at my side to handle 64bit properly - after christmas…
