does anyone know how to test the 6n138 optocoupler with a dvm?
i was thinking maybe i could breadboard a little test circuit if necessary…

You could just take that MIDI LEDs. They’re working as hardware and so have nothing to do with software probs.
If something comes into the coupler (anything), the MIDI In LED comes up.
