newbie question

hello ive read all over the site and in the forum and i cant find the answer that i need. I built an all in one computer and traktor controller unfortunately i dont use traktor that much, i seem to be using cubase sx to record live musicians with reason rewired in. So any way ive come up with a lay out that i want to make see attached image this has to many analogue inputs for the mb 64 software which is the only app ive used so far but as i understand it the mb 64e can take analogue inputs as well as digital so may be if i turned one row of pots to encoders i could use this application  so in totla how many digital/analogue inputs can mb64e have would i need to do any coding as this is  my worst nightmare as im dsylexic and i make to many typos to write code.which is why ive not even used mios yet just the old version of mb64

anyway to stop waffeling incase the image doesnt insert properly im having problems attaching it

the controller i want to make has 17 sliders, 30 buttons + 8controller buttons and 54 round pots.

thanks in advance for the help and for the best diy project site on the net this site contains the cutting edge of computer control for music and visuals

many thanks to tk and the many contributers

On the dyslectic thing:

Post your code here. People here will help you that it is typed in the correct way.

thanks very much

ive got to build my new board first

so as i understand it the midibox 64e is capable of 64 rotary encoders , 64 buttons , 64 pots ,and 8 seperate buttons for control. just on one core???

Hey Kris

the dsylexia shouldn’t stop you coding at all, I know plenty of dsylexic programmers, and don’t forget the compiler will helpfully tell you where your typos are when you complie..

also get into the habit of cutting and pasting functions and vars - that way you can’t typo it…

dsylexia is very different for every person

to me it just proves that we all see the world completely differently and language is just the consenus we throw around that experience

so any way being told that you should be able to do something because someone else can is not very helpful how ever well intentioned thanks

                        kris

yes you are right, dyslexia is different for every person.

and if you took what I said as you should be able to do it because someone else can, then I apologies - not my intention. What I maybe should of said is that Dyslexia doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t be able to cope with the coding, especially if it’s mostly cut, paste, edit…

I was hoping to encourage you to try and see if you can get on with editing the C code. And as Twin-X said, there are lots of ppl on here who I am sure will be willing to help, myself included.

all the dyslexic people i know have one thing in common:  they’re creative and intelligent enough to do this sort of thing.

Well said!

I suffer from pretty extreme memory/recall problems, and I’ve found that although it was a huge problem in my childhood, over time it just caused me to develop other skills like organisation and documentation, which compliment my weak memory. As well as being born with certain strengths and weaknesses, both our specific areas of intellect and our habits will alter themselves over time, and it all evens out. You just have to play to your strengths and protect your weak areas

well said. me? oh, i’m not bulletproof, but i can fly…

thanks for all the interest

sorry if i was a bit harsh david  i know from trying that programing or trying to just hurts my brain to much but ive no problem soldering etc as ive already built two midi boxes but for these i used the standard mb64 code for the next midi box project that i want to make i need to use the 64e i was just trying to find out how much coding or as you say cutting and pasting this would entail. you can believe that i would have  ago myself but its good to know that there are people who are willing to help

                                  thank you kris

If you are seriously concerned about the coding thing (sometimes even cut/paste can be a pain anyway.. not to mention there are some steps involved in just getting it all loaded in right),

then I would sugest that you stick with the ‘stock designs’ as much as possible. That way, you can load the default configuration files and be done with it. The less mods you make, the less someone will have to help out configuring it just right for your set-up.

You can always dual core if you need more Ins and Outs. Anything not being used can be tied low, and reserved for expansion later.

i know from trying that programing or trying to just hurts my brain to much

…that makes about 1500 of us here on the forum, sorry, 1501…

all good kris

feel free to pm with any questions.
