I plan on building a DAW controller based around a Teensy USB HID board. The goal is to make a professional looking device on a minimal budget.

There is some artifact showing up in the print when pressure is applied from the back side. I plan on having the print between to layers of SAN, so this is worrying!

Layout 05
Decided to change the orientation of the controller and it’s measurements to 13 cm wide and 17 cm high. I also added 4 potentiometer and removed the scrub-wheel and volume-button.
The product-name is now “TACTILE 2020 - Digital Audio Workstation Controller”.

Added a fader and decided to work with tactile microswitches with white caps instead of metal ones. Also added a a volume pot.
Layout 07
Made the design more compact, removed some buttons since the Teensy 2 doesn’t have enough I/O pins. Renamed the project “Shoron” which means “little dragon” in japanese.

OK, this is probably the final design for the project named “Shoron”. I have ordered components from Sparkfun and tops for the potentiometers from Elfa. My next step is to test the construction. My plan is also to engrave the dragon figure created by Jonathan Harris into the wooden sides.

Just bought a 20x4 LCD with an integrated I2C on eBay and decided to incorporate it in this project.

My final layout since this is the one I have printed out on aluminium.
07. Aluminium printout
This is the real deal. My design printed on a sheet of aluminium 300x200mm for about $28. The texture is great, the finish is matt and looks quite professional in my opinion.
My only reservation towards this approach is that colors from screen and the finished product differs quite alot.
Now the next thing is to drill the holes for the components.
