mois link and mackie control

can anyone set me straight on this one?

i’m making a mackie control and i need to know if any firmware mods are needed to link multiple cores (besides button/led assignments for that core).

if this doesn’t make sense, let me know and i’ll try to be more specific.

thanx.

Hey…

As far as I know, I think you connect via the digital midi i/o pins on the core module…

Best

Dan

thanks,

but do i need to tell the cores “who is who” and “what who is supposed to do” ?

i’m a little unclear on this part.

thanks again for all the help.

I see what you mean : you want, for example, a core for the fader and encoder, and a core for buttons? well, you have to set up the LC clone apps for that : make 2 firmware, and remove what you don’t want : for example, for a core with just fader and enc, remove the button array (or some part).

Hope this help! you have to look at inc file.

i was thinking more on the lines of:

2 cores = faders+buttons+leds (16 channels)

1 core = standard mackie control setup

i think i figured it out but any other advice you have would be appriciated.

one question though, wich core should be first (start and end point)?

mmmm I don"t know how to setup the XT clone, but I think you can use the same code : LC clone for both!

only two core : one with buttons, fader, encodeur + lcd, a LC clone, and one with 8 fader, 8 enc, buttons ect… like the mackie XT.

Ask Axel, he makes a 16 fader LC

Hope that you take into account the the Mackie Protocol requires a dedicated MIDI port for every “Logic Control” Unit?

Best Regards, Thorsten.

so would the “mios link” take care of this or it becomes one big lc with 24 faders (impossible?)?

With the MIDIbox Link concept you can cascade as much MIDIboxes as you want - the problem is the protocol defined by Mackie. It knows only “one channel” for transfering the control data. Programs like Logic Audio, Cubase, etc. are searching for one unit per port only, they are not prepared for handling more than one unit with a single MIDI In.

So you see: it’s software limited, but not by MIDIbox… no chance for a workaround, unless you would ask the big companies for help (but we all know the update policy of them :-/)

However, if you see no chance to add additional MIDI In/Outs to your computer (Btw.: the MBHP_USB interface provides two In/Out ports), you can still use the linked boxes as generic controller.

Best Regards, Thorsten.

thanx. i’ll send you pics of my mb-plus floorboard for line6 soon. did want them via e-mail?

Woa! Another line6-er!!

I’m planning to build a midibox line6 floorboard too!

I’m using PODv2 for guitar and the florboard is a must!

What will u use it for??

i also have a podv2.0. the floorboard is already in use. not he best lookins at this time but i’m not totally finished.

I’d like to see it!

I 've thought of so many things to do with MIOS, a graphic display, many buttons and POD but need to learn assembly first… I’l also need a hell lot of spare time!..
