MB808 fully stuffed - questions

The Plan:

MB808

with Trigger-/ACCENT-out

without TR-808 analog section

The PCB should be single sidet, so I can etch it on my own  ;D , and that should cost with chemicals max. 30€

But there are some unclear things now.

Questions:

  • Do I need Menue Buttons under the LCDs?
  • If I use the Midibox-Clockbox, for Start and Stop my Equipment, Do I need also on the MB808 this buttons (I actually left it out)
  • If the MB808 is MIDICLOCK-SLAVE (clockbox is Master) The 3Digit 7segment LED-Display shows also the BPM?[/li

    • Is it or will it be possible to add a second 16x4 dualmatrix?  :wink: to have 8times a 16step sequence??? for me in most cases, 8 Instruments is all I use (for drums now)  8), it would be the ultimativ, super trupa phat mega groovy uuuuultra geile Drumsequencer (ok it is now already, but hey  ;D )

    • On the 808 website: there are the Shematics and PCBs in eagle-format, but only in single files… so you have pictures like that, on your screen:

      Should here everybody know what is going on here, should be it DO IT YOURSELF, or have some people paranoia? With this pictures I really cant understand the coherences. no, I know something of electronics… but a technician without a complete shematic, cant work  ;)  :-... so if somebody can send me the shematics, pm me…please- thankz!

      • The LED-Trigger is only for the LED??? or is it a ampliefier for the trigger signal? (again the complete shematic is left!
      • If I want trigger out, that are able to trigger Roland Drummachine like the 808 909 or 606, Is this simple use a Doutregister? or Do I need a transistor circuit? to get more then 5V?, And whats about:…
      • …whats now with the Accent Circuit?.. clear me up  :stuck_out_tongue:
      • Where is the Accent POT that we have on the most Drummachines? For your info, the Accent Pots, modify the Accent Ammount..from 0 (no accent) to max on the accentet notes

Sorry but why do that that way?  ;D
If that work as you sayd, do I need expensive AOUT?, or I simple need, two outputs of a DOUT register, one with a resistor one without…and now you have already accentet or non accentet… why use a AOUT when it isnt “controllable” in fine steps like 0-127  ??? What I didnot understand here?
- The swing Pot: is a POT (a resistor…) and it is connectet to the Core where? J5 J6? which Pins? 0-5V?
- The following Pcbs, and its buttons…they are fully stuffed, or is there anything that, comes (maybe in future…)

Design for Fully stuffed with 2x 2x40 LCD: The complete pcbs (front and core…) consists of 3 Piece 200x150 PCBs.

3,6cm x 20cm is the size of the 4x16 Matrix with DTL switches

Now what do the LCDs exactly? What shows it?..no away with them over the Matrix  >:(  ;D
and then I have still place for all the other buttons next to the Matrix, so it finally it fits in a smaller Rack with less “höheneinheiten” size…
and size/place nobody have ever to much…

…not completely autoroutet…i cant wait…heh…and the trigger outs and Accent shematic are missing…because…I CANT FIND ANY DOCUMENTATION ABOUT THIS ( wahhh! wahhhhhh wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh  ::slight_smile:

The GP buttons (1-16) are still used for the menü? or I need a extra menue-row?

I can’t be 100% sure about this, but I think the menu functions will still be accessible from (one of the) rows of GP buttons

MMMMMM, buttons. The columns of keyswitches will look cool :slight_smile: reduces the amount of cuts in the panel too, should be cheap. Nice!

You’re gonna have to buy eagle or find a good freebie for that layout :frowning:

This runs under the clockbox - multi hardware? Hm, i willnot use a LCD… I will take 3x 7segment LEDs Displays, if I cant integrate the application from the midimon application…i will build a midimon core… I dont want a 2x16LCD or so… I dont need it… I want the BPM and I want to stop and play…Or I need it?  ;D

I see that on the GP buttons is black written BD, SDI LT MT…and so on  and I have also a Instrument Encdoder!

For what the black written BD SD LT letters… there is no button that says “I am the 3rd function- press me If you want to select a Instrument to edit, with the GP buttons” like the Shift or ALT says…

later I will post the 19" version without LCD and with less HIGH in the Rack ( the picture above…is way to big for a Roadcase for liveacter, which go to gigs by train or a small car  ;)…think about it… there are also compressores analog synths, the SeqV3 analog drums mixers… its big enough…

If I use a 2x16LCD, do I need then 4 or 5? Menu Buttons and a Menu Encoder?, to eg, Edit Pattern-names- make Global-edits like midichanal and so on…?

I ask that, because, I will not use 2x 2x40 LCDs thats to big… …with a small 2x16 display…it fits in a 2HE- Rack, more from that later…I am on it… tonight I will post my 2He design  ;D

(ich hab schon bemerkt das keiner antwortet…danke auch  :wink: ich plane lieber alles vorher (gehört zu meinem beruf! -cad-projektierung…) und wenn alles durchdacht, und das gleich für mehrere Projekte (für mich ist das ein großes Projekt…das liveact-projekt  :wink: ), wird dann eine große Bestellung aufgegeben, um die Kosten drastisch zu reduzieren… die lochraster zeiten sind vorbei… deshalb nicht wundern, das ich gleich mehrere projekte hier anreiß… …deshalb das 303 Projekt und andere Projekte bitte nicht als totes projekt mißdeuten…)

Hi Phattline, do you have an mbSEQ already built? i’m asking because some of your questions may be easier to answer by trying the mb808 firmware on the mbSEQ hardware and help you on the hardware side decisions

for example(anyone correct the info if it’s wrong please):

No I dont want to use mbseq firmware, I want MB808 firmware.

And If you look @ the left side (http://www.phatline.at/MB808/808-front-klein-links.png) I use the first 16 buttons for GP… if you miss something  :wink:

(If you gettin confused… Right of the “shift”-button is the controllsurface of the Clockbox, I start the MB808 with that, so I decidet to Waste the PLAY and STOP Buttons off the MB808, because, that are already solved by the Clockbox—or I hope so.
