MB-6582 Complete!

Looking forward to having a battle with my Sid Station

End of line

That’s going to be a pretty short battle. I predict flawless victory incl. fatality (down, forw, back, back, high-kick) in round 1 for the mb6582.

Looks very nice…

looks verrry nice! i’ve just ordered a couple of SIDs today (1x 6581, 1x 8580, 10x 8082A, 1x 6581R4AR) as well as a simmichsid kit (for the beginning, before moving on to mb-6582). - can’t await to get hands on!!

very nicely done! congratz, and you better sell your sid station soon, as you will not have much use for it now

Soooo. Where did you order your SID’s from? Ebay? Any tips ?

Very nice MB6582. Your gonna love it…

got reply. … www.donberg.de says they cannot deliver 6582A.

funnily, www.donberg.ie wrote that they don’t have stock on 6581R4AR BUT they quote a re-order time for 10 days. unfortunately the price for 6581R4AR is much higher than for 6582A. but first, lets see if they can really deliver. i am still not believing it…

so i wrote donberg.ie today if they could also order 6582A , waiting for reply …

meanwhile i’ve managed to get a couple of SIDs from ebay though, and from other (austrian) fleamarkets within 48 hours from damaged, working, or partially working C64/C128:

1x 6581 CBM 4684 (inside C64 breadbox, fleamarket)

1x 6581 CBM 4283 (inside C64 breadbox, fleamarket)

1x 6581 (only the chip, via ebay germany)

1x 6581 not delivered yet, inside a C64 ebay breadbox

1x 6581R4AR (only the chip from a C128, from ebay)

1x -"- (?), from C128, fleamarket, not delivered yet

1x 8580R5 1489 25 (C64C, fleamarket)

1x 8580R5 (ebay)

1x C64C (yet unopened)

1x C64C (yet unopened)

seems like there still are people who are happy to get rid off their old C64 and C128’s. but, crazy hell, some really want up to 180 euro (which i did NOT buy), one c64 i got for 13 euro …

i think if you are lucky, there are still quite some c64 around. at least in austria + germany. but definately you will have to pay a couple of bucks for them :-/

Yes. Theres plenty c64’s. In Denmark at least… I fitted my MB6582 with 5 * 6581 and 1* 8580. The 8580 seems a lot more stable and easyer to control… I like the osc sound of the 6581 but they are really quirky/buggy, and the filter is quite low… Good luck!!

Thanks for the tip, so i’ll rather go for 8580. So far i was lucky, got 3x 8580R5 so far, from C64C’s …

Really good looking MB-6582!

Sell your Sid Station.. the good thing about it, ppl pay BIG for the Sid Station (which i dont really understand because it really sounds bad).

Have Fun fiddling around :sorcerer:

I’m not really sure if cross-posting that was necessary…

Anyways, here’s my answer again.

Woot? Made by DOS? With a really weird date code?

“Just promise me you’ll be careful…”

Make damn sure you have a way of getting your money back. Most of what I read on other forums recently points towards most "SID"s being around in larger quantities being either remarked (not necessarily an issue) or just random chips that happen to have the same pin count

right Nils thats weird.

I read about donberg.de a couple of times and people seem to never get any chips from them. I think they should take the chip off their webshop… Everyday there are people who sell C64s. With an estimated quantity of between 17 and 30 million sold C64’s plus a couple C128s there should be a supply for quite some time.

man this 6582 looks really really god with the red knobs and the green display!!

thanks for encouraging me in this regard!

good luck with your sids, guys!
