Managing audio files in Ableton

hi

this is for those ones who use Ableton for DJing.

I have most of my music on an external FW HD, then i have other sources from another computer, stuff i get from friends, etc

When i prepare a set i move all the music i want to play in a folder in my audio partition and load the files from there into Ableton.This folder is growing daily and i try to delete older files which i don t play anymore.

It s not so easy to track all the tunes, and keeping the folder updated.

How is your work flow ? any tip?

Ableton does the job for you : remove the files from your session (in the mixer grid) then just save (“réunir et sauvegarder”, 4th way of saving in the file menu). Ableton will ask you if you want to keep unused file, so answer NO. :wink:

^stryd i didn t delete them, but somebody remembered me what i had written.. yes, silly, written quickly, maybe a few tips about how to give good tags for dumb asses like me.

julie NO, that is true only if you create-record files from within ableton.they will be stored in a temp folder and added to the project folder only if you save them as you say.But i load the files in the folder from the browser so ableton won t delete unused files
