Mount your LEDs somewhere convenient and run fibre optic cable to the buttons.

It’s cool and all but insane not to load an RGB led as the source.
For that much work it should change color like a mood ring when done. 
hahah yea you are right, i need to see slowly oscillating color changes.

I saw fibre optic cable for sale in a Maplin about a week ago if thats any help.
