i’m making the case in school so it is simpler. i am in school myself (age 15)
I got a problem regarding LCD module
i have ripped it out from an old printer/fax and it is in good condition i think it is a 2x16 but i’m not shure and i dont know which type it is. can someone help me with finding it’s type?
PS. sorry for my (ununderstandeble) writing, this is my first forum
try to count the number of character on it.. very hard sometimes, but it’s possible… how many pins are there on it? and what’s the name of the cip on it?
regrding duraka, u know on your design, how much info do u want to be displayed eg:
name: value
menu assign
count the letters and spaces,(in this case 16x2)
there are dot matrix displays (which do not have letter blocks) and they are good for graphics, they are usualy expencive. but u can draw on letter blocks as well.
i cannot count number of characters because it is not turned on (you might find if you press on calculator when it is on you can see the blocks but is it’s off, then i guess not) but i’m shure it is __x2 coz i’ve seen it working and i can tell you the number of pins it has:
if this is a graphical display with an unknown controller it will be very very hard to get it working. You possibly need to program your own MIOS LCD driver, and this requires a good datasheet which contains at least the pinning and the commands that are necessary for the initialization. Ok, and it requires some programming skills (you will find some driver examples in the MIOS download section).
If this is a 16x100 dot display, it would be sufficient for a common MIOS application. The character size is 6x8 pixels by default, this means that 16x2 characters can be displayed w/o problems.
i was looking through datasheets and i didnt find anything on my particular display, thay all were dot matrix ones. how do you find the right datasheet?
i still dont know my LCD type so its pretty useless !?
i am totaly lost. i dont have anough funds nor time for my midibox and i’m thinking of the worst thing… selling it :'(
