I am interested in small, steel shaft, potentiometer based joysticks, much like those used in Patricks MIDI box shown in the forum here:

These are exactly what I need, but after much web searching, I just cant find anything like them!

A part number… A supplier… A manufacturer… anything!

There are some joysticks at Elfa.se, a scandinavian electronics distributor. They have no-return-spring models, too (this is what you probably want). The price is not exactly cheap but not terrible either.

Glad to be of help! I have already one joystick ordered for me by a friend. I’ll give the stick a hard time on my SID machine - once I get it finished!   8)
