Various odd bits

Testing encoder LEDs through the opal washers.

Washer LED bleedthrough?

Now smeared using the washer as a diffusor

End result with smearing…

9HE Panel

Getting close to sendoff. Outlines of components are shown. This mockup got printed and real knobs were put in place to check finger clearance.

The component outlines are the round circles around the holes. This way we can ensure that everything fits even on the backside.

The Germanizer (stereo Germanium distortion) was recently completed and tested. Now the fun of checking that all controls are working as intended begins…

Thomas Henry/Fonik Super Controller PCB and parafernalia for the modular. The FSM (Flying Spaghetti Monster) likeness was unintentional. His noodly ways manifest themselves in the strangest ways…

This and much more will be slaved to the AoutNG and under control by the MB-SEQv4 that sits on top of the 9U of analog mayhem.

The SCM did work sans too many hitches, no animal cruelty was used during the testing. Fully vegan this stuff (this time around).

This is also the reason why my experiments with the 6582OLED are on hiatus.

Dummy mounting of modular synth panel and MB-SEQ

Just testing racking the monster.

Science! :sorcerer:

Twice the fun / double the trouble

Building two modulars, one for me. All the electronics mounted on one of them. The other has most of the front panel wiring soldered. Add bottom plate w/ PSU plus the cabinet holding the Core32, SD-card and ETH PCB (not pictured).

More work on the cabinet to follow later.

Watch your bass-bins!

The woodwork part of the case is done. After getting clad with black foil the new working name was temporarily set to Black Satan. Darth Vader stopped by for a cup of tea and wanted one.

Monolith

OMG: Also Sprach Zarathustra started playing and we taught ourselves to use our screwdrivers as weapons. The apemen were confused.

Take a peek, why doncha?

Technodistortionsgerät

This is part of the story. It’s an homage to Deutschland and the Hardfloor-stylee sound. Happy skronking!

But, will it blend?

Part of the mixer section. I bet we saved 5 cents on the engraving by writing G A I N but it looks cool in a strange way.

You can haz filter!

You don’t obtain the correct French filter disco feeling without a big whopping filter.

Affinity

My cat had some affinity to the box while I was trying and failing to take some pics. CV/Gate out section.

Who me, I’m hiding!

In the darkness no one will notice you forgot your tripod… Note to Darth Vader, turn off your breathing mask while hiding in the dark. You don’t fool anyone :getlost:

Re: Washer LED bleedthrough?

Just a quick test, plastic somewhat opal washers and 3LEDs in series @ 9VDC, 220R.

Re: Testing encoder LEDs through the opal washers.

It.Really.Smears.the.Light! Just for testing if the washers can serve as diffusors.

Re: Washer LED bleedthrough?

Yo! Nice diffusion! But am a little bit sceptical, if it is sufficient to backlight those knobs brightly enough for Emerald City

Re: Washer LED bleedthrough?

Stay tuned!

Re: End result with smearing…

This is considerably dimmer, but this is taken in a well-lit room during daytime. It will glow nicely in the dark. Also, my gallery tells me a different story when the before and after pictures are level-matched /public/style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.png" alt=“thumbsup.png”>

Re: End result with smearing…

I like it - it will be sufficient

Re: End result with smearing…

I hope so - otherwise I could get some gull-wing blasters that put out 168mcd each locally. But these were free /public/style_emoticons/default/santa.png" alt=“santa.png”>

Re: End result with smearing…

yo, or the bfg9000 photon emitters, but these are military grade

Re: End result with smearing…

Firecrackers!!! Has a harsh intro - starting to get going at 1:52 w/ Nam June Paik gfx, analog style from 1978…

Re: End result with smearing…

Mhm after watching that video I want an oldschool 256x64 OLED galaga-style shooter

Re: End result with smearing…

Yay for Galaga and other old-school shooters! And to BFG /public/style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.png" alt=“thumbsup.png”>

Re: 9HE Panel

mmm - tasty :sorcerer:

Re: 9HE Panel

Future 12U panels will be less bread and butter and more outlandish. As you can probably tell I want this to sound harsh - buil in distortion and waveshaper. All inputs are attenuverting (+1 to -1).

Getting antsy to finish this, get panels and let it sing. Untz untz untz, skronk and some schranz. /public/style_emoticons/default/whistle.png" alt=“whistle.png”>

Re: 9HE Panel

not to forget

modulated sawtooth → germanizer → “yodelütiii”

Re: 9HE Panel

Will you make a Bavarian version?

Next panel will be Swedish - Klånk skrammel rassel ööööö hähähähä Erik Northman, Greta Garbo, saltlakris, snaps, sill och lite vrål.

Sweden makes awesome noise:

Re: 2011-09-13 - 1.jpeg

Holy moly - niceo ´el crazy professor style :sorcerer:

Re: Dummy mounting of modular synth panel and MB-SEQ

Jo man, that is sauce-boss-extreme style

Well done! Am very interested to hear its soundz!!!

Greets,

Re: Dummy mounting of modular synth panel and MB-SEQ

Thanks! She needs populating first/public/style_emoticons/default/sweat.gif" alt=“sweat.gif”>

But, it will all be good, goofy, gooey fun in the end. Design freeze was 111009, aiming at working like mad to have it up and running by 111111 one one eleven!!!

2xVCOs (Thomas Henry - one 566, one XR2206), a dual/stereo CEM3379 VCF (PML), dual envelopes (PML), ring mod (Fonik), SN76477 noise and S/H (TH and Fonik), Ian Fritz Wavolver waveshaper on our own PCB, Germanizer germanium diode distortion (PML) and MB-seq w/ 8channels of CV/Gate (TK’s genious sauce and design - Wilba stylee CS, Fussylizard arranged the order, Julian F did the panel, we did the CV/Gate out PCB).

This is PML stylee (that’s me and my pal FS) - we mix the borrowed (TK, Thomas Henry, Fonik, Ian Fritz) with our own custom sauce. Next time we eat the future!
