Should I be getting any kind of continuity reading between the Vs & Vd pins of J9, J4, or j6 on the Core module?
?
I think you should measure a steady 5 Volts between any Vs (ground) & any Vd (+5V) pins.
Vs & Vd on those pins (J4,6,7,9) are the powersupply for the modules.

I’m measuring without power supplied to the unit to troubleshoot, checking for continuity using my multimeter. Â I place one lead to the Vs pin and one to the Vd pin and it shows there is continuity between the two. Â I’m not sure if this means anything. Â
Electronics is obviously not my strongest subject, but I can solder so I thought I might be able to build this project, maybe I’m in over my head. Â I don’t see any problems except that I get multiple midi events from my DINS when I should be getting single events ( http://www.midibox.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=mios;action=display;num=1078469592;start=15 ), though I’ve never seen a screenshot of what a working Midibox looks like in midiox when a button is pushed or an encoder rotated.
ah, I did not understand what you meant with ‘continuity’. Maybe the caps between Vs & Vd are responsible for that. My multimeter ‘beeps’ when i look for shortcuts, doesn’t do that on my core between Vs & Vd, shows some numbers, but I got no idea wat they mean (i’m no electronics guru) -note: PIC not plugged in.
but anyway, if you do connect power to it (before the rectifier) do you measure 5V between Vs & Vd ?
I think if you have a shortcut, you won’t have 5V.
& If you have a steady 5V, I think it’s all OK.
goodluck.
