Hi.. i have an old soundblaster ISA card, i can’t find the yamaha chip there, perhaps I don’t know how it’s done  Can you help me? These are 2 pics of the card

Sorry,

seems to be a Soundblaster 16 PnP Card. There is no OPL3 on it :frowning:

Only the the oldest original Sundblaster 16 (without PnP) have OPLs.

Onother card with OPL is the Soundblaster Pro2 (CT1600).

Tip: The OPL3 is clearly marked with “Yamaha YMF262”.

Damn, I think I just bought a newer one!!

The ebay listing said "sound blaster:, not “sounds blaster pnp”… Maybe I won’t pay after all!

I just bought a lot of 10 cards off ebay most of which were “SB 16’s” so I was hoping for quite a few OPL’s.

Ended up with two.

One on a SB numbered CT2860

And one on a Media Vision card from 1993 650-0044-56B FCC id: IXW-PAS16NS

Both OPL’s are labled YMF262-M but under that they both have different (what I assume to be) revision codes:

9515 EALC on the SB

9307 GDAD on the MV

Same goes for the YAC’s on them both YAC512-M but then underneeth:

5190c on the SB

306ea on the MV

Not sure how well they’ll play together if I use both YAC’s on one MBFM but I may give it a try.  Or I may buy some more cheap sound cards and hope for a matching set.

huh… so i have to find another one  :‘( :’( thanks!

Yeah, that’s the problem! Creative sold at least 4 different “Soundblaser 16”. From the original one with OPL up to several PCI cards :frowning:

Take care with the Soundblaster Pro’s too! Only “Soundblaster Pro II” has the OPL (The II is important!!!)

Mine is a CT2770, I’ll let you all know whether it has the chips.

Perhaps we could compile a list of which cards definitely do and do not have the chips, with details of the card, such as the CTxxxx numbers?

Everyione, please post any info you have in here

Media Vision Pro Audio Spectrum 16, code: FCC ID:IXW-PAS16LL

SCSI ISA SoundBlaster looks like it has both the YAC and OPL chips here.

Card is a CT1770 SB 16 SCSI

From another thread:

The YMF-262/YAC-512 can also be found on this card:

Mozart, ISA, ca 1995

OTI601 “Mozart”, 9501

AD1848KP “SoundPort”, DAC/ADC, Mixer etc, PLCC68, 9402

YMF262 OPL-3, 9351

YAC512 DAC

AN1324 Quad-OpAmps (2)

TC4053 DigitalSwitch

KA558D2 Timer

TDA1517 2x6W Amp

I have the following soundcards at home with the YMF262 on them:

Mediamagic ISP-16

Creative Sound Blaster Pro 2 (CT1600)

Media Vision Pro AudioSpectrum 16

Turtle Beach Tropez Rev 2.0

Also when I had been at the local surplus shop, I found the following cards with YMF262 and the YAC512 on them:

ESS AudioDrive (no part number, ASIC was labelled ES688F)

Aztech (no p/n, ASIC AZT2316A)

Creative Sound Blaster 16 (only marking was “Copyright 1992”)

Media Vision Pro Audio Spectrum 16, code: FCC ID:IXW-PAS16LL

The two chips are also on the IXW-PAS16P

(Media Vision PAS16 LMSI 1992)

Thank you! I’ve added this info to the MBHP_OPL3 page

Best Regards, Thorsten.

The CT2770 does not have the chips… The 2770 is the SB16 Value

AW35(Crystal CS4237)/AW37(Crystal CS4235) Does not have the chips

As per another post:

http://ssl.linuxbeach.net/cgi-bin/LinuxBeach/CT4170.html

The CT4170 is a SB Vibra 16X, and according to that image, I don’t see the chips…

The ES1868 AudioDrive ® solution is a mixed-signal single-chip solution that adds 16-bit stereo sound and FM music synthesis to personal computers. It includes an embedded microprocessor, an OPL3? superset ESFM TM music synthesizer… The ESFM TM synthesizer has extended capabilities within native mode operation providing superior sound and power down capabilities. It is register compatible to OPL3.

Can someone confirm if this card is usable…
