i’m planning to stuff MBSID, MBSEQ and MBFM into a single suitcase. MBSID already works, but i’m wondering if it’s possible to at least supply power for the MBSEQ from the same (C64) psu?
what about MBFM? i understand i need a 2x12V supply for the OPL3 module but what about the core? it would be FANTASTIC if i could do it all with just 1 PSU but if not possible then at least as few as possible…

No problem. MBSEQ only needs +5V and can be hooked to the C64 supply.

You can use the +5V from the C64 PSU for the core too. But for the OPL, you`ll need another solution.

great! what about the current draw from the cores/LCDs? will the C64 fuse hold?
The +5V rail is rated 1.5A max.
Should be enough for 3 cores and LCDs. But to be shure connect them one after each other and meassure the current.

hmm i’ll need 6 cores (4xSID + FM + SEQ)
Even 6 cores (without LCD connected) will draw less than 500 mA. But the LEDs and the backlight of the LCDs will need more.
So best way is to meassure the current of your MBFM, MBSID and MBSEQ standalone. Than add these values and hopefully 1.5A are enough

PLEASE dont use bigger fuses!!! Not because of possibe damage of the PSU but because you really dont want to burn down your house.

My cousins house - It was set on fire by a overheated PSU. Wasn`t very funny.
Fortunately nobody was in the house when the fire started.
Ask your local firefighters. Overheated electronic devices cause lots of burnings.
