internal connection to msid or mbseq possible?

Hi,

another question from me. I want to know if it is possible to connect a MBSID or a MBFM internaly to the sequencer, without the midi out used.

I thought to build the MB SID and later the MB FM directly into the same case, an then the internal connection would be great.

But, I still want to use the Midi out, for instance to use my waldorf microQ again.

Hi,

yes, you can use the MIDI Link port, but only in one direction. The MIDI Out of the Sequencer (J11:MO) has to be connected to the MIDI In of MBSID and MBFM (J11:MI) - a proper ground connection is also required of course, and the optocouplers of the MBSID and MBFM core modules have to be removed.

This setup will still allow you to access MBSID and MBFM thru the MBSEQ MIDI In (you have to enable the Merger in the MIDI menu)

I think you’e got me wrong, I want to hardwire the Midiout of the Sequencer to the Midi In of MBSID and MBFM, but also use the MidiOut for external gear.

Is it possible to use the MidiOuts of the MBSID and MBFM for this?

i dont get the point; if you connect midi from MBseq to MBsid to MBFM;  you can use the midiout of the MBFM to control the external gear.. but this is the same with all midi devices that have midi out..

you can hardwire it or use standard midicables..

Adding more OUT ports is no problem.

why do you want to use the MIDI Out of these boxes? Just use the MIDI Out of the MBSEQ

The MIDIbox Link port works with TTL level, therefore you can connect multiple MIDI Ins to a single MIDI Out, and in addition you can drive a “common” MIDI In with optocoupler. If more “common” MIDI Ins with optocoupler should be driven, then you need a LTC module in addition
