how to connect two coloured leds?

i found this really need and cheap leds lately which shine on different colours depending on the polarisation.

now - is it possible to somehow connect this led to two dout ports at once so, let’s say when port 1 is active the led shines green and when port 2 is active the led shines red?

this can be interesting for example when you make a midibox similar to an audio mixer - when the channel is playing normal the led doesn’t shine at all, if it’s muted it is red and when it’s solo’ed, it’s green.

isn’t there a way you could get the 2 leg version working if you used diodes?

but I agree the 3 leg led would be much easier to do

Sorry but Im not a electronic-Pro…how should Dou-or Multicolourleds with 2 legs work ??

LEDs are Diodes  ;D

One possibility way to use 2 leg versions is a independent (hardware) driver for the LED.

A driver which is changing polarity on a triggering (DOUT) event. I think, two transistors and 4 resistors are doing that job

But it isn’t worth the effort, or better. It would be an overkill.

My opinion:

Better use 3-pin Legs.

lol, yes I know LEDs are diodes - the clue is the in name right :wink:

I just thought my idea with the diodes through a bit more, and you are right it wouldn’t work (well not with out a relay or extra circuit).
