How can I get my MIDIbox to have its internal bank affected by incoming MIDI data (CCs) through the MIDI in port? I can’t seem to!

I’m trying to get the internal settings of the MIDIbox affected by incoming MIDI data. Like this: Incoming MIDI data has CC#5’s value changing; this affects the MIDIbox’s CC#5 setting.
